At around 12:19 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 65-year-old Rosalie Negrete, of Arleta, was killed in a head-on collision in Adelanto, reported the Daily Press. While traveling westbound on Palmdale Road, a 2007 Toyota Camry collided head-on with an eastbound 2000 Mitsubishi Mirage near Vinton Road. Emergency responders transported Negrete, a passenger in the Toyota, to an area hospital, where she was declared dead a short time later. Four other passengers were also taken to local hospitals. The accident is under investigation, and those with information that could assist authorities are asked to call Deputy Brett Haynes of the sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team at 760-552-6800. Adelanto accounted for 5 of the 180 fatalities and 55 of the 11,050 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in traffic collisions that occurred in San Bernardino County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Passengers accounted for 2 of the deaths in Adelanto and 59 of the fatalities recorded in San Bernardino, as well as 35 of the injuries in the city and 4,056 in the county.
