Anaheim: Disneyland Employee Fatally Struck While Cycling Home

At approximately 12:30 a.m. this morning, an SUV fatally struck an employee of Disneyland while she was cycling home from work in Anaheim. The collision occurred on the 1-5 over pass in an eastbound lane of Ball Road. Paramedics transported the cyclist to a local trauma center, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene for questioning. Authorities are investigating the accident, explains an Orange County injury lawyer. 

Anaheim accounted for 3 of the 12 fatalities and 94 of the 1,201 injuries suffered by bicyclists in traffic accidents in Orange County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. That year, 99 bicyclists lost their lives in collisions, a decrease of 9.2 percent from 2008, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety.
