Antelope Valley: Head-On Crash Killed Carolyn Ormston and San Jacinto Man, Seriously Injured Billie Casey and Donald Cook
5/7/2012At about 8:20 a.m. on Sunday, May 7th, a head-on crash in Antelope Valley killed 57-year-old Carolyn Ormston and a 39-year-old San Jacinto man and seriously injured passengers Billie Casey, 51, and Donald Cook, 50. While traveling southbound on California 14 in a Cadillac, the San Jacinto man veered into the opposing lane of traffic near Red Rover Road, colliding with the vehicle Ormston was driving. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and Ormston at a local hospital. Casey suffered major trauma, and Cook sustained moderate injuries. Authorities are investigating the collision.
“When a driver’s negligence results in a crash causing injury to others, the driver may be legally obligated to compensate the victims and their families for expenses incurred due to the injury or the loss,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis.
Traffic accidents claimed the lives of 390 motor vehicle occupants and injured another 64,178 throughout Los Angeles County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. In a California Office of Traffic Safety rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst for fatal and injury collisions, Los Angeles ranked 18th out of 58 counties that year.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Carolyn Ormston and the San Jacinto man, the two drivers who were killed in the head-on crash early Sunday morning. We would also like to wish a full recovery to Billie Casey and Donald Cook, the two passengers who were injured.
