On the night of Friday, March 29, 26-year-old Guillermina Puentes was killed in a crash in Bakersfield. Puentes was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed on Oswell Street north of Edison Highway. She succumbed to the trauma she suffered in the accident at 10:41 p.m. The crash is under investigation.
“When a family loses a loved one to a collision, they may file a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver in order to hold him or her liable for their loss,” explained California car accident attorney James Ballidis.
The California Office of Traffic Safety’s records indicate that 1,343 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle collisions in Bakersfield in 2010. Crashes that occurred between 9 p.m. and 2:59 a.m. claimed the lives of or caused injury to 131 people in the city that year.
