At about 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, a car accident on the 91 Freeway killed one person and injured two others in Cerritos. The crash occurred on the eastbound side of the freeway near Pioneer Boulevard. All lanes were blocked while emergency responders administered aid to the victims. The accident is under investigation.
“California law ensures that those who have been seriously injured in a collision may seek compensation for the expenses associated with their recoveries,” explained California car accident attorney James Ballidis. “In the event of a fatal accident, the family of the victim may file a wrongful death claim in order to hold the negligent party liable for their loss.”
Cerritos accounted for 6 of the 346 fatalities and 438 of the 62,881 injuries suffered in motor vehicle collisions that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. The incidence of traffic fatalities in California increased 2.6 percent in 2011, from 2,720 in 2010 to 2,791.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the person who was killed in the car accident on the 91 Freeway. We would also like to wish a full recovery to the two people who were injured.
