At about 12:40 p.m. on Friday, December 28, one-year-old Marvin Carbajal was killed in a semi crash in Coachella. The four-vehicle crash, which involved a Honda that became pinned under the semi, occurred on Highway 86 near Avenue 50. Carbajal was declared dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported another person who suffered moderate trauma to the hospital. Authorities are investigating the crash.
“When a crash results in injury or fatality, the victims or their families may hold the negligent driver liable for their recovery-related expenses or losses by filing injury or wrongful death claims,” explained California truck accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Coachella accounted for 2 of the 164 fatalities and 74 of the 10,594 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in collisions that occurred in Riverside County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Large trucks were involved in 6 of the fatal and 293 of the injury crashes that occurred in the county in 2010.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Marvin Carbajal, the one-year-old who was killed in the semi crash. We would also like to wish a full recovery to the person who was injured.
