Shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 19, a 55-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car on the 210 Freeway in Duarte. While traveling eastbound, a 56-year-old woman from Glendora lost control of her Hyundai Sonata and veered into the carpool lane, where she struck the rider, the impact ejecting him from his bike. Emergency responders airlifted him to an area hospital. The woman was not injured. Authorities are investigating the accident.
“With less protecting them from the vehicles with which they share the road, motorcyclists are more vulnerable to suffering serious injury in a collision,” explained California motorcycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Duarte accounted for none of the 71 fatalities and 5 of the 2,657 injuries suffered by motorcyclists in crashes that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Los Angeles ranked 34th out of 58 counties in the state for its incidence of fatal and injury motorcycle accidents in a California Office of Traffic Safety rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the motorcyclist who was injured in the collision with the car on the 210 Freeway.
The San Gabriel Valley Tribune originally reported this Duarte crash.
