At about 3:34 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2014, four people were injured in a hit-and-run crash in Fontana, reported The Press-Enterprise. While traveling northbound at 60mph on Sierra Avenue in a black 2006 Ford Escape, 36-year-old Mauricio Alexander Argueta, of Rancho Cucamonga, ran a red light where the street crosses the 10 Freeway and rear-ended a Nissan Altima that was waiting at a red light at the intersection of Sierra and Valley Boulevard. Emergency responders transported the driver of the Nissan, an adult passenger, and two children, ages 11 and 4 months, to the hospital. Argueta fled the scene on foot but was later apprehended at an apartment in Rancho Cucamonga and arrested.

The California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System indicates that 190 people were killed and 10,602 were injured in motor vehicle crashes that occurred in San Bernardino County in 2011. Ten of the fatal collisions and 789 of those causing injury occurred in Fontana. Hit-and-run was a factor in 33 of the accidents resulting in injury or death that occurred in the city that year. Across California, hit-and-run drivers claimed 131 lives and injured 18,801 people.

Once the driver responsible for a hit-and-run crash has been apprehended, the victims may hold him or her liable for the expenses associated with their recoveries or losses by pursuing civil claims. For more information on the civil claims process, please call 888-752-7474 or contact us online

Everyone at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the four people who were injured in this hit-and-run crash.
