At about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, August 19, a car crashed into a building in Fountain Valley, seriously injuring two men and causing four others to suffer minor trauma. The accident occurred when a 2011 Buick sedan drove through the glass storefront of the tutoring center at Brookhurst Street and Ellis Avenue in front of which it had been parked. A 32-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were trapped underneath the vehicle. Emergency responders extricated them from the wreckage and transported them to area hospitals to receive treatment for major trauma. The 76-year-old driver of the Buick, a 67-year-old woman, and two 15-year-old boys sustained minor injuries. Authorities are investigating the crash.

“Those who are injured in a crash that is attributable to the negligence of a motorist may file personal injury claims in order to be compensated for recovery-related expenses,” explained an Orange County car accident lawyer, “such as for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering.”

The California Office of Traffic Safety’s accident data indicate that 513 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle collisions in Fountain Valley in 2010. The OTS compares the crash statistics of cities with populations of a similar size, giving those with the poorest records the highest rankings, with 1st place considered the worst. That year, Fountain Valley ranked 1st out of 103 cities with populations of between 50,001 and 100,000 for traffic safety.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the two men who were seriously injured when the car crashed into the building. We would also like to wish a full recovery to the four people who suffered minor injuries.

The Orange County Register originally reported this Fountain Valley crash.
