Fountain Valley: Teenage Driver Seriously Injured in Car Accident

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. yesterday, a teenage driver was seriously injured in a car accident in Fountain Valley. The 18-year-old was traveling along Rose Avenue when her Ford Focus collided with a Mazda SUV at Bushard Street, the impact causing her to suffer severe head injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The 17-year-old driver of the SUV remained at the scene for questioning. Authorities are investigating this crash and have requested that anyone who witnessed it call the Fountain Valley Police Department at 714-593-4481, according to an Orange County car accident attorney. 

Fountain Valley accounted for 511 of the 18,867 fatal and injury motor vehicle traffic collisions suffered in Orange County in 2009, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current accident statistics. That year, the city received an OTS ranking of 1, meaning that out of 104 cities with similar populations, it placed the worst for traffic accidents.
