4/18/2012Shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 14th, a car slammed into Harbor City Mexican restaurant El Indio, injuring four people. The accident occurred near the intersection of South Western Avenue and West 228th Street, when a two-vehicle collision sent one of the cars involved into the eatery, causing an occupant to suffer trauma, as well as two diners and an employee. Paramedics transported the injured, two of them critically, to the hospital. Authorities are investigating the crash.
“Whether a vehicle occupant, pedestrian, or bystander, if hurt in an accident you may seek compensation for expenses incurred during recovery from the party responsible for the unfortunate incident,” explained California personal injury attorney James Ballidis.
Throughout Los Angeles County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of 390 passenger vehicle occupants and 177 pedestrians and injured 64,178 occupants and 5,215 pedestrians, according to the California Highway Patrol’s 2009 Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. In a ranking system in which 1st place represents the county with the worst traffic safety record in the state, the California Office of Traffic Safety ranked Los Angeles County 15th out of 58 counties in 2010.
