At about 1:33 a.m. on Monday, July 1, a hit-and-run driver struck and seriously injured a teen bicyclist in Hesperia. A white pickup truck hit the 17-year-old as he rode west on Main Street near Escondido Avenue. Emergency responders airlifted him to a trauma center in critical condition. The Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the bicycle accident and has requested that witnesses, or anyone with information, contact the Hesperia Station at 760-947-1500.
“It is important to apprehend the driver responsible for a hit-and-run accident resulting in injury or death,” explained California bicycle accident lawyer James Ballidis. “Otherwise, the victim or the family of the victim may have little recourse through the civil justice system.”
Three bicyclists were killed or injured in traffic accidents that occurred in Hesperia in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Hit-and-run was a factor in 11 of the fatal and injury accidents that occurred in the city that year, which ranked 81st out of 103 cities for its incidence of such accidents.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the teen bicyclist who was struck and seriously injured.
The Daily Press originally reported this Hesperia bicycle accident.
Additional information on the injury claims process is available to the public free of charge through our office.
