Hinkley: Passenger Martha Aguilar Killed in Broadside Collision
At about 4:21 p.m. on Saturday, June 30th, 28-year-old passenger Martha Aguilar was killed in a broadside collision in Hinkley. Aguilar was riding in the front seat of a Ford Ranger that was struck by a Nissan Sentra at the intersection of Valley Wells Road and State Highway 58. Paramedics transported her to Barstow Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly before 5:30 that evening. The CHP is investigating the crash.
“Passengers who suffer serious trauma in a collision may hold the at-fault driver liable for expenses associated with their recovery,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis. “In the event that the passenger does not survive, his or her family may pursue a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver.”
In 2010, traffic accidents claimed the lives of 2,715 people in California, a decrease of 11.9 percent from 2009, when there were 3,081 traffic fatalities, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. That year, the incidence of traffic deaths reached the lowest level since the federal government began recording such information in 1975.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Martha Aguilar, the passenger who was killed in the broadside collision in Hinkley.
