Huntington Beach Man Critically Injured In Rollover Accident

Some time around 6 p.m. last evening, a Huntington Beach man was critically injured in a car accident. The 38-year-old man was passing through the intersection of Goldenwest Street and Palm Avenue when his truck collided with a BMW that was turning left. The impact caused the truck to rollover, at which point, he was ejected from vehicle, sustaining head and internal injuries. He and the BMW driver were hospitalized for their injuries. Police indicated that one of the drivers may have run a red light and are investigating the matter to determine which driver was at fault, reported the Orange County Register. 

“Collisions involving traffic signals and signs were the fifth most common type of accident in 2008,” explains an Orange County injury lawyer, “accounting for 135 fatalities and 14,051 injuries that year.”

In 2008, the majority of accidents resulted from speeding or traveling at an unsafe speed, accounting for 522 fatalities and 48,841 injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The second most common accident type involved automobile right-of-way, and the third, improper turning. That year, 162 people were killed and 18,891 injured in traffic-related accidents in Orange County.
