2/23/2012Shortly before 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22nd, a motorcycle accident on the 405 Freeway in Irvine resulted in major injury to one or more of the parties involved, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash, which involved two motorcycles, occurred in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Culver Drive. Paramedics transported at least one of the victims to a local hospital. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision, explains a motorcycle accident lawyer in Orange County.
Irvine accounted for 1 of the 17 fatalities and 39 of the 759 injuries suffered by motorcyclists in traffic collisions in Orange County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Throughout the state, motorcycle fatalities decreased by 10.7 percent, from 394 in 2009 to 352 in 2010.
