Irvine Multiple-Vehicle Collision Critically Injured 3 People On Saturday
James E. Ballidis
During the rainy, early morning hours last Saturday, 3 people were critically injured in a multiple-vehicle collision on the 405 Freeway in Irvine. The accident was triggered when 22-year-old Ana Maria Flores lost control of her 2004 Jeep and swerved into the middle lanes, where a big rig struck her. The impact sent her into the median and caused the big rig to jack-knife and crash into a 1929 Ford, as well as a CHP cruiser and 2007 Chrysler that had been stopped on the right shoulder. Flores, her 4-year-old daughter, and the driver of the Ford, 78-year-old Salvatore Giannulli, sustained major injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. The driver of the Chrysler, 22-year-old Danielle Jones, suffered moderate injures; the big-rig driver, 46-year-old Mike Rosales, was treated on the scene for minor injuries; and the CHP officer was not injured, explains an Orange County car accident lawyer.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Annual Report of Fatal and Injury Motor Vehicle Traffic Collisions, there were a total of 3,113 fatal and 170,496 injury accidents statewide in 2008, with 84 of the fatal and 5,425 of the injury collisions occurring during rainy weather.
The Orange County Register originally reported this multiple-vehicle collision.
Everyone at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish Ana Maria Flores, her daughter, and Salvatore Giannulli, the 3 people critically injured last Saturday, a full recovery. We would also like to wish Danielle Jones and Mike Rosales a full recovery.
