Lake Forest: Car Accident Claims the Life of Gregg Wiles

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. yesterday, a car accident claimed the life of Gregg Wiles in Lake Forest. The two-vehicle collision occurred on Portola Parkway when Wiles’ Chrysler sedan collided with a Nissan Altima. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities believe one of the drivers may have run a red light and are continuing to investigate the accident, explains an Orange County auto accident attorney. 

In 2009, traffic accidents claimed a total of 33,808 lives and injured 2,217,000 people, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA. Vehicle occupants accounted for 24,474 of the fatalities and 2,011,000 of the injuries. Over 95% of the 9.6 million vehicles involved in crashes that year were passenger cars or light trucks.
