At about 1:35 a.m. on Monday, July 9th, one person was seriously injured in a semi crash on the 405 Freeway in Long Beach. The collision between the car and the semi occurred south of Alameda Street, the impact causing the car to roll over, ejecting an occupant. Emergency responders airlifted the person to Long Beach Memorial Hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. Authorities are investigating the crash.
“Due to the size and weight of semi trucks, accidents involving them often result in serious injuries to the victims,” explained California truck accident attorney James Ballidis. “In many cases, they may seek compensation to cover the cost of their recovery, such as for medical bills, lost earnings, and pain and suffering.”
Long Beach accounted for 19 of the 390 fatalities and 1,704 of the 64,178 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in traffic accidents in Los Angeles in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. That year, large trucks were involved in 46 of the fatal and 1,464 of the injury crashes that occurred in the county.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the person who was seriously injured on the 405 Freeway this morning.
The Long Beach Press-Telegram originally reported this semi crash.
