At about 9:20 p.m. on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 40-year-old Danny Troung, of Downey, was killed in a fiery crash on I-605 in Los Alamitos, reported the Orange County Register. While entering the freeway from Katella Avenue, the driver of a black Toyota Camry lost control, spinning into middle lanes. Troung broke to avoid a collision and was rear-ended by a speeding Nissan Titan, the impact pushing his silver Acura TL into the Toyota and sending it into the guardrail on the right shoulder. The Acura and the Nissan then struck the median wall, causing the Acura to ignite into flames. Authorities arrested the driver of the Nissan, 40-year-old Edwin Jesus Amaya. Witnesses to the crash are asked to contact California Highway Patrol officer Stacy Willits at 714-892-4426.

Motor vehicle collisions claimed the lives of 88 people in Orange County in 2011 and caused injury to another 17,182, according to the California Highway Patrol. In Los Alamitos, no deaths were suffered in collisions, but 54 people were injured. Speed was a factor in 4,655 of the crashes that resulted in injury or death in Orange County that year. The county ranked the 11th worst in the state for speed-related accidents.

Under California law, when a family loses a loved one to a traffic accident, they may hold the at-fault driver liable for their loss by filing a wrongful death claim. For more information about the wrongful death claims process, please call 866-981-5596 or contact us online.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Danny Troung.
