Shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 87-year-old Ruby May Hixon and 41-year-old Daniel Matthew Lindeman were killed in a crash in Manhattan Beach. While riding his motorcycle in the 600 block of Sepulveda Avenue, Lindeman collided with Hixon, who authorities believe was in the roadway at the time. Emergency responders found Hixon lying in the northbound lane near the curb and Lindeman about a block away. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the accident and have requested that witnesses contact the Manhattan Beach Police Department at 310-802-5140.
“Once investigators have identified the party responsible for a fatal crash, the family of the victim may then file a wrongful death claim against that party,” explained California injury lawyer James Ballidis.
The California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records indicate that traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 6 motorcyclists and 10 pedestrians in Manhattan Beach in 2010. Statewide, motorcycle fatalities increased 15 percent from 352 in 2010 to 414 in 2011, and pedestrian fatalities increased 3.9 percent from 601 in 2010 to 625 in 2011.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the families of Ruby May Hixon and Daniel Matthew Lindeman, the pedestrian and the motorcyclist who were killed in the crash.
