At about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 15, 28-year-old Lidia Ortega, of Commerce, was killed in a DUI crash on the 60 Freeway near Montebello, reported the Los Angeles Times. While traveling eastbound, a 24-year-old motorist from Rosemead lost control of his vehicle, hit the center divider, and swerved to the right, colliding with a 2001 Acura Integra, the impact sending the Acura spinning and throwing Ortega and another passenger from the vehicle. She was declared dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported the other passenger and the driver of the Acura to an area hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. Authorities arrested the driver of the other vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence.
