At about 4 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014, a car struck and fatally injured 13-year-old bicyclist Brennen Faith in Murrieta, reported The Press-Enterprise. A westbound car hit Brennen near the intersection of Las Brisas Road and Bolina Drive. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors and are investigating the accident.
Throughout Riverside County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of 14 bicyclists and caused injury to another 349 in 2011, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. None of the fatalities or injuries occurred in Murrieta. For a city its size, Murrieta received the California Office of Traffic Safety’s best ranking for cyclist safety that year.
Under California law, when a driver’s negligence causes a fatal accident, the family of the victim may file a wrongful death claim in order to hold the driver liable for their loss. For more information on the wrongful death claims process, please call 888-752-7474 or contact us online.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Brennen Faith.
