Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, 2014, 24-year-old Ruben Bailon and 21-year-old Omar Bolanos, both of Perris, were killed in a crash in Nuevo, reported The Press-Enterprise. The collision, which involved three vehicles, occurred near Nuevo Road and Foothill Drive. Emergency responders had to extract some of the victims from the wreckage. Bailon and Bolanos were pronounced dead at the scene. Two victims sustained moderate trauma and were transported to hospitals. Authorities are investigating the crash.
In Riverside County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 10,924 people in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current crash data. Drivers aged 21 to 34 were involved in 555 of the fatal and injury collisions. Riverside ranked 53rd out of 58 counties for its incidence of accidents resulting in injury or death in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst; it ranked 34th for crashes involving drivers aged 21 to 34.
