At about 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014, the male driver of an SUV was fatally injured in a hit-and-run accident in Orange, reported the Orange County Register. The man, who was in his 20s, was driving a Ford Explorer on North Tustin Street when he collided with a Ford pickup truck between East Chestnut and East Vanowen avenues. The impact caused the SUV to roll over, ejecting the driver. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. His 18-year-old female passenger was injured. The driver of the truck fled the scene. Authorities are investigating the accident.

The city of Orange accounted for 4 of the 88 fatal and 973 of the 17,182 injury crashes that occurred in the county in 2011, according to the California Highway Patrol’s most current accident data. Hit-and-run was a factor in 35 of the collisions that resulted in injury or death in Orange that year. Across the county, it was a factor in 935 fatal and injury crashes, with the OTS ranking Orange 22nd out of 58 counties for its incidence of hit-and-run accidents in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.

After a hit-and-run accident, it is important to apprehend the driver, as he or she may be held liable for the expenses associated with the victims’ recoveries or their families’ losses. For more information, please call 888-752-7474 or contact us online.
