At about 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, two people were injured in a motorcycle-versus-car crash in Palm Desert, reported The Desert Sun. The collisions occurred at Portola Avenue and Gerald Ford Drive. Paramedics transported the man who was riding the bike to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs. Authorities do not suspect that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors and are investigating the accident.

Palm Desert ranked 13th for motor vehicle collisions and 32nd for motorcycle accidents when compared to 93 other similarly sized cities in a ranking system in which 1st place is the worst.
