Shortly before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22, two people were killed and another was injured in a semi crash in Pomona. The collision, which involved a large box truck and a semi, occurred on the transition road that connects the eastbound 60 Freeway to the southbound 71. A man in his 20s and a man in his 40s died in the accident. Emergency responders airlifted a third victim to the hospital. Authorities are investigating the crash.
“After a semi collision resulting in injury or death, the victims or their surviving family members may file injury or wrongful death claims against the negligent driver in order to be compensated for expenses associated with their recoveries or losses,” explained California truck accident lawyer James Ballidis.
Pomona accounted for 6 of the 346 fatalities and 938 of the 62,881 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in crashes that occurred in Los Angeles County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Large trucks were involved in 47 of the fatal and 1,535 of the injury accidents that occurred in the county that year.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the families of the two men who were killed in the semi crash on the freeway. We would also like to wish a full recovery to the person who was injured.
