At about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014, 66-year-old motorcyclist Stanley McAlexander was killed in a crash in Riverside, reported The Press-Enterprise. While traveling eastbound in the 700 block of Blaine Street, the 54-year-old male driver of a 2011 Chevy Tahoe turned left into a shopping center in front of McAlexander’s 2002 Honda VTX 1800 west of Watkins Drive. The two collided and McAlexander sustained major trauma. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he died. Witnesses, or anyone with information about this accident, are asked to call Detective Felix Soria of the Riverside Police Department at 951-826-8720.
In the city of Riverside, 1,327 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records. Forty-six of the victims were motorcyclists. Riverside ranked the 8th worst for a city its size for its incidence of fatal and injury car crashes and the 9th worst for the number of motorcycle crashes resulting in injury or death that occurred there. Statewide, 415 riders lost their lives in accidents that year.
