Shortly before 6 a.m. on Monday, September 10, 22-year-old Michael Aaron Benvenisti was killed in a semi crash in San Bernardino. While driving to work, Benvenisti was involved in a collision with the tractor-trailer rig on Kendall Drive near Yucca Avenue. Paramedics transported him to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma; he succumbed to his injuries this morning. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
“A collision between a semi truck and a passenger car can result in serious injury for the occupants of the latter vehicle,” explained California truck accident lawyer James Ballidis, “as a fully loaded semi can weigh up to 80,000 pounds and cause a significant impact.”
Traffic collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 1,101 people in San Bernardino in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System for that year indicates that large trucks were involved in 24 of the fatal and 425 of the injury crashes that occurred in San Bernardino County.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Michael Aaron Benvenisti.
