At about 5 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, 53-year-old Denyse Rachele Tully was fatally injured in a crash north of San Jacinto, reported The Press-Enterprise. The two-vehicle collision occurred on eastbound Gilman Springs Road at Country Club Drive. Emergency responders extricated two people from the wreckage and transported Tully and five others to area hospitals. She succumbed to her injuries shortly before 4 p.m. that day. Authorities are investigating the accident.
Motor vehicle accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 145 people in San Jacinto in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. San Jacinto ranked 36th out of 94 similarly sized cities for its incidence of fatal and injury crashes in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst. Statewide, 2,816 people lost their lives in traffic accidents that year.
