At about 3:30 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 24-year-old Rene Ramos was killed in a suspected DUI accident southeast of Sanger, reported The Fresno Bee. While traveling eastbound on Goodfellow Avenue in a Nissan Frontier, 26-year-old Jesse Gonzalez overcorrected near Riverbend Avenue, causing the pickup truck to rollover. Ramos, a passenger, was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported Gonzalez to an area hospital. Upon his release, he will face charges related to the accident.

Sanger accounted for none of the 88 fatalities and 53 of the 4,418 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants in traffic accidents that occurred in Fresno County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Passengers suffered 31 of the deaths and 1,691 of the injuries that occurred in the county that year. Alcohol was a contributing factor to 586 of the collisions that resulted in injury or death in the county.

When a family loses a loved one to a traffic accident, they may file a wrongful death claim against the party who was responsible for the crash. To learn more about the recourse available to the families of the victims of fatal collisions, please call 866-981-5596.
