Santa Ana Man Struck By Big Rig

Some time around 6:30 this morning, a big rig struck and critically injured a man at 1500 N. Harbor Boulevard in Santa Ana. The man’s name has not been released, but he is believed to be between 50 and 60 years old, explains an Orange County pedestrian accident attorney. 

Statewide, 646 people were killed and 12,774 injured in pedestrian accidents in 2008, with Orange County accounting for 31 of the fatalities and 785 of the injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol. Unfortunately, the risk of such accidents is exceptionally high for adults aged 65 and older, with approximately 18% of fatalities attributable to individuals in this age group in 2008, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
