Studio City: One Seriously Injured in Semi Accident on 101 Freeway
James E. Ballidis
Early this morning, a semi accident on the 101 Freeway near the 134 Freeway in Studio City left one person seriously injured. A semi truck hauling two trailers filled with sand was traveling in the eastbound lanes when it swerved into the center divider, striking several vehicles in the westbound lanes before returning to the eastbound lanes and crushing an SUV. The SUV driver sustained major injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, explains a California truck accident attorney.
In 2009, the most recent year for which the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released accident statistics, drivers accounted for 17,640 of the vehicle occupants killed in traffic accidents and 1,395,000 of those injured. That year, there were a total of 3,380 fatalities and 74,000 injuries resulting from collisions involving large trucks.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish the driver who was seriously injured on the 101 Freeway in Studio City this morning a full recovery.
The Los Angeles Times originally reported this semi accident.
