At about 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, multiple vehicles struck a female on a scooter in Studio City, the impacts causing her to suffer fatal trauma. The accident occurred near the intersection of Sarah Street and Tujunga Avenue. Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities are investigating the accident.

“When the negligence of motorists contributes to a traffic fatality, the family of the victim may hold the at-fault parties accountable for their loss,” explained California personal injury lawyer James Ballidis, “oftentimes by filing a wrongful death claim.”

Throughout Los Angeles County, traffic collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 72,010 people in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. While the agency does not track the incidence of accidents among the riders of scooters specifically, it indicates that 4,962 of the traffic fatalities and injuries were attributable to pedestrians and 4,191 to bicyclists.

All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the woman who was struck and killed while riding her scooter last night.

The Los Angeles Times originally reported this fatal Studio City accident.
