Shortly before 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 6, three people were injured in a car accident in Temecula. The crash occurred at the busy intersection of Rancho California and Margarita roads, reported The Press-Enterprise. Five fire engines responded to the scene, where twenty firefighters worked to extricate the victims from the wreckage. Emergency responders transported the victims to area hospitals to receive treatment for moderate to major trauma. Authorities are investigating the car accident.
Temecula accounted for 1 of the 164 fatalities and 532 of the 10,594 injuries suffered in motor vehicle collisions that occurred in Riverside County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. The California Office of Traffic Safety ranked Temecula 43rd out of 53 cities of a similar size for its incidence of fatal and injury car accidents that year in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
