Shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 4th, two people were killed in a head-on collision in Templeton. While traveling westbound on Highway 46 in a white Lexus, a 62-year-old woman entered the opposing lane of traffic while attempting to pass vehicles in front of her and collided with an eastbound GMC pickup truck. She was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 50-year-old male driver of the truck died at a hospital two hours after the accident.
“After a fatal crash, the family of the victim may file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver, whose insurance company will have the responsibility of compensating the family for their loss,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.
San Luis Obispo County accounted for 30 of the 2,373 fatalities and 1,273 of the 207,651 injuries suffered in motor vehicle collisions that occurred in California in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the families of the two drivers who were killed in the head-on collision.
