Thousand Oaks: Owner of Costa Mesa’s Eat Chow, Eric Doran, Killed in Car Accident

Shortly after 5 a.m. last Friday morning, 36-year-old Eric Doran was killed and his wife critically injured in a car accident on the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks. Doran, the owner of the Costa Mesa restaurant Eat Chow, was traveling in a classic Model A roadster when a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck rear-ended his vehicle, the impact forcing it into the back of a Honda Accord. His wife remains in serious condition at a local hospital, explains a California personal injury attorney. 

Nationwide, fatal and injury traffic accidents tend to peak over long holiday weekends. In 2009, 473 motorists lost their lives in crashes throughout Memorial Day Weekend, 42 percent of which involved alcohol, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In Los Angeles County, there were three traffic-related deaths from 6:01 p.m. on Friday, May 27^th through Monday, May 30^th at 6 a.m., and the California Highway Patrol arrested 298 people on suspicion of driving under the influence.
