Shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, 25-year-old Isaias Tang Jr., of Garden Grove, was killed in a crash in Westminster, reported the Orange County Register. While speeding northbound on Magnolia Street, the driver of a blue Toyota Camry lost control and veered across southbound lanes, crashing into a cinderblock wall and then a light pole. Witness accounts and evidence indicate that the driver dragged Tang out of the car before fleeing. Tang was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are asking that anyone with information about this accident or the whereabouts of the driver, described as a Caucasian man with long hair, contact the Westminster Police Department at 714-548-3767. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
In 2011, the most recent year for which accident data is available, 616 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The agency compares the accident statistics of cities with populations of a similar size, giving those with the poorest records the highest rankings, starting at 1st place. That year, Westminster ranked 5th out of 102 cities with populations of between 50,001 and 100,000 for its incidence of fatal and injury collisions. Speed was a factor in 125 of the crashes.
After a fatal collision, the family of the victim may file a wrongful death claim against the at-fault driver in order to obtain compensation for the expenses associated with their loss. For more information on the wrongful death claims process, please call 888-752-7474 or contact us online.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Isaias Tang Jr.
