7-year-old Seriously Injured in Orange County 3-Car Crash

A 7-year-old child sustained serious injuries after a Westminster accident involving three cars.
 
The crash occurred at 8 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the intersection of Hazard Avenue and Purdy Street in Westminster.  The boy was a passenger in an eastbound Honda Accord that turned left into the path of a westbound Toyota Sequoia.  The Accord was sideswiped by the SUV resulting in significant damage to the right rear portion of the vehicle.  The boy was sitting in the right rear seat. He sustained head injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for treatment.  The boy is listed in serious condition.
 
The driver of the Sequoia sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital.
 
The Honda also crashed into a Nissan Xterra that was stopped at a stop sign.  No one in that vehicle was injured.
The cause of the crash currently under investigation by the Westminster Police Department.
