Anaheim: Bicyclist Daniella Palacios Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident

On Saturday, November 1, 2014, 44-year-old bicyclist Daniella Palacios was struck and killed in a hit-and-run accident in Anaheim, reported the Los Angeles Times. A white pickup truck hit Palacios at around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and La Palma Avenue and fled the scene. Emergency responders transported her to an area hospital, where she died a short time later. Witnesses, or anyone with information about the accident, are asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227.
Throughout the city of Anaheim, 2,075 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current crash data. Bicyclists accounted for 118 of the victims. Hit-and-run was a factor in 19 of the accidents that resulted in injury or death. Compared to 12 other cities with populations of more than 250,000, Anaheim ranked 2nd for motor vehicle collisions, 10th for bicyclist accidents, and 13th for hit-and-run accidents in a ranking system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
