Angeles National Forest: Alejandro Perez Killed, Another Injured in Accident

At about 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014, 21-year-old Alejandro Perez, of Sylmar, was killed and another person was seriously injured in a car accident in the Angeles National Forest, reported the Los Angeles Times. While traveling near the intersection of Kagel Canyon and Dexter Park roads, the Chevrolet Camaro in which Perez and the other person were riding veered from the road and crashed. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders airlifted the injured victim to an area hospital. Authorities are investigating the crash.
Throughout Los Angeles County, 72,593 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle collisions in 2010, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS compares the accident data of the state’s 58 counties, giving those with the worst incidences of fatal and injury crashes the highest rankings, starting with 1st place. That year, Los Angeles ranked 9th for traffic safety.
