Posted on Aug 23, 2012
On the morning of Tuesday, August 21, 22-year-old motorcyclist Joel C. Caraballo was killed in a collision with a semi truck in Bakersfield. While riding northbound on Weedpatch Highway, Caraballo was unable to avoid a collision when the truck turned left onto Muller Road from a southbound lane of the highway. Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a few hours later. The driver of the semi, 57-year-old Kenneth E. Rasmussen, did not suffer trauma in the crash.
“When a motorist’s negligence results in a fatal accident, the family of the victim may hold the motorist accountable for their loss,” explained California motorcycle injury lawyer James Ballidis.
The California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current accident statistics indicate that 46 motorcyclists were killed or injured in collisions in Bakerfeild in 2010. The city ranked 9th out of 13 cities with similar populations for its incidence of fatal and injury motorcycle crashes.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Joel C. Caraballo, the rider who was killed in the collision with the semi.
