Buena Park: Drunk Driver Caused Fatal Collision

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Friday, May 20^th, a drunk driver caused a fatal collision in Buena Park. The driver, 21-year-old Christen Payne, was traveling at a high rate of speed on the 91 Freeway when she rear-ended a disabled vehicle, killing the occupant. Authorities subsequently arrested Payne on suspicion of driving under the influence. The California Highway Patrol has asked that anyone who witnessed the accident call 714-892-4426, according to an Orange County auto accident attorney.

Buena Park accounted for 32 of the 1,951 fatal and injury traffic accidents in which alcohol was a contributing factor in 2009, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current statistics. That year, drunk drivers caused 950 fatal crashes throughout California, 75 fewer than the previous year.
