Buena Park: Semi Driver Killed, One Injured in Crash

Posted on Mar 20, 2014

At around midnight on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, a collision between a semi, a FedEx truck, and two SUVs claimed the life of the driver of the semi truck and injured at least one person in Buena Park, reported the Los Angeles Times. While traveling eastbound on the 91 Freeway, the driver of the semi came upon a stalled FedEx truck in the middle lanes and was unable to avoid crashing into the back of it. Two SUVs were also involved in the accident. Emergency responders transported the driver of the semi to the hospital, where he was declared dead. Authorities are investigating the crash.

Buena Park accounted for 9 of the 88 fatalities and 533 of the 17,182 injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes that occurred in Orange County in 2011, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. In Orange County that year, large trucks were involved in 5 of the fatal and 336 of the injury collisions; statewide, they were involved in 245 of the fatal and 5,155 of the injury accidents.

When a motor vehicle accident results in injury or death, the victims or their families may file personal injury or wrongful death claims against the at-fault driver in order to hold that person liable for the expenses associated with their recovery or loss.
