Canoga Park: Cyclist Killed in Two-Vehicle Collision

At about 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014, a cyclist was killed in a two-vehicle collision in Canoga Park, reported the Los Angeles Times. The female rider, who was in her 40s, was struck at the intersection of Sherman Way and Shoup Avenue. Authorities are investigating the accident.
In Los Angeles County, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 4,789 bicyclists in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Los Angeles ranked the 8th worst in the state for its incidence of fatal and injury bicycle accidents. Cyclist fatalities in California increased 7 percent from 116 in 2011 to 124 in 2012.
