East County: One Seriously Injured in Crash near Sycuan Casino

At about 11:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2014, one person was seriously injured in a crash near Sycuan casino in San Diego. The two-vehicle head-on collision occurred on Dehesa Road. One of the vehicles caught on fire. Emergency responders transported one victim to the hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. Authorities are investigating the accident.
The California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records indicate that 17,718 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle crashes in San Diego County in 2011. San Diego ranked 37th out 58 counties for the number of fatal and injury accidents that occurred there that year. Nighttime collisions—those occurring between 9 p.m. and 2:59 a.m.—accounted for 1,741 of the accidents that resulted in injury or death.
