Eighteen-Year-Old Killed in I-5 Speeding Accident

Posted on Jan 11, 2011

A young Fresno woman was killed when the car she was riding in crashed on the I-5 freeway near Crown Valley Parkway.

The Orange County car crash occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2011. A 1997 Ford Crown Victoria was travelling at a high rate of speed in the No. 1 lane, when it the driver tried to turn into the No. 3 lane and crashed into a 2007 Ford edge.  The Crown Victoria then spun out of control and was crashed into the Ford Edge a second time. The Crown Victoria then went off the road where it rolled several times before landing on an embankment.

The 18-year-old female passenger was identified Paige Armstrong-Maltos, a freshman basketball player at Irvine's Concordia University.  She was not wearing a seat belt.  She was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is truly a tragedy when such a promising young life ends so suddenly. The Newport Beach car accident attorneys at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the Paige Armstrong-Maltos.
