Eighteen-Year-Old Killed in I-5 Speeding Accident

A young Fresno woman was killed when the car she was riding in crashed on the I-5 freeway near Crown Valley Parkway.
 
The Orange County car crash occurred at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 9, 2011. A 1997 Ford Crown Victoria was travelling at a high rate of speed in the No. 1 lane, when it the driver tried to turn into the No. 3 lane and crashed into a 2007 Ford edge.  The Crown Victoria then spun out of control and was crashed into the Ford Edge a second time. The Crown Victoria then went off the road where it rolled several times before landing on an embankment.
 
The 18-year-old female passenger was identified Paige Armstrong-Maltos, a freshman basketball player at Irvine's Concordia University.  She was not wearing a seatbelt.  She was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
