Fontana: Adriana Caceres Fatally Injured in Semi Crash

At about 1:03 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014, 38-year-old Adriana Caceres was fatally injured in a semi crash in Fontana, reported The Press-Enterprise. The 48-year-old driver of the semi ran a stop sign at the intersection of Production and Santa Ana avenues and crashed into the driver’s side of the vehicle Caceres was driving. Emergency responders transported Caceres and her 5-year-old daughter to the hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries. Caceres succumbed to the trauma she suffered a short time later. The driver of the truck was not injured. Authorities are investigating the accident.
Motor vehicle collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 618 people in Fontana in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. San Bernardino accounted for 29 of the 245 fatal and 438 of the 5,155 injury crashes involving large trucks that occurred in the state that year. Traffic signals and signs were a primary collision factor in 129 of the fatal and 12,610 of the injury accidents.
