Fontana: Motorcyclist Adrian Melecio Killed in Crash

On Thursday, October 9, 2014, 22-year-old motorcyclist Adrian Melecio, of Bloomington, was killed in a crash in Fontana, reported The Press-Enterprise. At about 5:55 a.m., a blue 2006 Chevy HHR pulled in front of Melecio as he was riding his blue 2005 Yamaha RC at Slover and Catawba avenues. He was knocked off of his bike and then hit by another vehicle. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he died a short time later. The accident is under investigation.
The California Highway Patrol’s most current crash data indicate that no motorcycle riders were killed in crashes in Fontana in 2011; however, 3 were injured. Traffic accidents of all types claimed 16 lives and injured 879 people in Fontana that year. Throughout San Bernardino County, 544 riders were killed or injured in collisions. Crashes of all types killed or injured 11,627 people that year in the county.
