Granada Hills: One Person Seriously Injured in Car Accident

Shortly after 5 a.m. this morning, one person was seriously injured in a car accident on the 118 Freeway in Granada Hills. The crash occurred just west of Woodley Avenue. All eastbound lanes were shut down until 5:43 a.m. while the accident was cleared. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, explains a California personal injury attorney. 

In Los Angeles County, a total of 73,561 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents in 2009, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current accident statistics. Fatal motor vehicle crashes decreased by 10 percent from 2008 in California. Nationwide, traffic fatalities also decreased by 10 percent, down to 33, 808 deaths, the lowest number recorded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration since 1950.
