On Saturday, November 8, 2014, 18-year-old Andre Vega and 20-year-old Christian Griffith were killed and four others were injured in a crash in Hemet, reported The Press-Enterprise. The two young men, as well as Norine Myers, Linda Rangel, and Chloe Hess, were occupants in a Hyundai SUV that went out of control and rolled over several times on Domenigoni Parkway west of State Street. The vehicle had been traveling at a high rate of speed prior to crashing. Emergency responders transported the victims to area hospitals, where Vega and Griffith succumbed to their injuries. Authorities are investigating the accident.
Hundreds of people gathered at West Valley High School, where Vega was a senior and a football player and Griffith a graduate, to mourn the young men with a candlelight vigil on Sunday night. A formal vigil is planned for tonight at 6 p.m.
